Elder John Dalstead John Dalstead

I was raised in a nominal Anglican family in Sydney . As a youth I had an interest in the sea (my father was a sailor) and wireless before radio and electronics were invented. I worked in the NSW State Government while studying at night to become a ship's wireless operator. At the time I graduated, one of the intructors asked me to consider a technical career in aviation. I worked at Mascot and Bankstown airports as a bench repair technician and trained as a Licensed Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (L. A. M. E.) in radio systems. After a period in New Guinea, I became an instructor for LAMEs and during January 1965, while in Perth conducting LAME training on the brand new Boeing 727 aircraft, I was converted through the friendship of Frank, a Christian man living permanently at the hotel where I was staying.
On returning to Sydney , a friend of Frank introduced me to the Brethren Assemblies and my future wife, Mearal. She is the daughter of a Brethren missionary doctor and his wife, a midwife, who had worked in the Belgian Congo . We married in 1966 and returned to New Guinea where I was area manager for the company. We worshipped with the Salvation Army in Lae, and had contact with many missionary associations. We often had Christian folk visit and stay with us while in Lae.
In 1968 I was appointed Victorian Manger for the Division of my company which included the aviation functions. As the structure of the company changed, so my responsibilities changed, at one time National Aviation Training Manager and finally Administration and Finance Manager. I retired from the company in 1991 and we have run a family business since 1992. Mearal is still nursing at a private hospital in Bundoora. We have moved several times, and as we have done so, we have sought to identify a church close to home which faithfully preaches the Word and an active program of outreach into the community. At various times we have been members of the Christian Bretheren, Baptist Union and Churches of Christ and worshipped with independent Baptists. I have held a number of posts in these congregations depending upon their structure.
On moving ot Melton in 1994, having known Bob Carner and Peter Owen a little, and observing the state of the churches there, we joined the Melton Presbyterian church in 1995 and was elected elder shortly afterwards. I am currently church treasurer(Melton / Brimbank), presbytery elder and assessor elder for the Wyndham church.
Outside of the church I have been an active member of the Gideons since 1982, and among various local camp duties, spent many years working in the “Regional Cabinet†which oversees that work in the western part of Victoria.

Elder Matthew Teggart Matthew Teggart

I am 36 years of age and am married to Rachel. I have 3 children , Lachlan , Elizabeth and Alexandra. Our family has lived in Melton for over 4 years and have been members of the Melton Presbyterian Church since moving to Melton. I came to know the Lord when I was 23 years of age.

I was ordained as an Elder in the Melton Church in 2005. Presently I am working as a Ministry Trainee with the Church which is a 2 year appointment and I hope that this will lead me onto a full time role in serving the Lord.

In my spare time I like to spend as much time as I can at the beach with my family and also like gardening and golf.

Board Member Colin Phillips Jr Colin Phillips Jr

I am a 36-year-old father of three, who moved to Melton as a newlywed in 1991. It was then that I started attending Melton Presbyterian Church, after having been raised in Sunshine and attending the Sunshine Presbyterian Church. I have had the privilege of serving on the Board of Management at Melton for a number of years now. The two things that stand out in my mind as great blessings for the Church during my years on the Board are the recent establishment of a Church plant at Brimbank and Melton becoming financially independent after starting life as a Home Missions Post and being reliant on external funding to balance the books.

Employment wise, I am currently working in the aerospace industry as a Senior Designer after starting working life in 1986 as a Trainee Draftsman at Williamstown Naval Dockyard. My interests are spending as much time as I can with my wife and children, pancakes on Saturday mornings (which the kids always hold me to), bush walking and generally being outdoors, fishing, gardening, tennis, running, body boarding at the beach, building things and catching up with friends.
