There are nine small groups meeting regularly at various times throughout the week. For the details of leaders and venues please contact Peter Owen.
SOME OF OUR PHILOSOPHY ON SMALL GROUPS
Melton Presbyterian Church has determined that in order to grow, in quality and quantity, we need to get smaller. The logic behind this is quite simple. In many Churches the 'professional' minister does all the ministering while the congregation does nothing but watch and receive. This ministry is centralised. It drains the full-time minister emotionally and physically in the process. Lets stop and think. Jesus Christ our Lord only cared for 12 disciples intimately. It seems illogical therefore to ask a mere man to adequately care for 50-100 or more people.
Therefore, Melton Presbyterian Church wants to be understood as a Church of small groups, not just a Church with small groups. Our small groups are not just one of the 'programs' that the church provides but are a vital part of the very life and fabric of our Church. They establish a platform for ministry which encourages everyone to be involved and serving and growing together. It is the foundational unit of a 'ministry training church'. |
